METAL MEDIEN
Es gibt eine Fülle von Metal Magazinen. Was auffällt, ist, dass es sogar überall in der Provinz einfach gemachte Fanzines gibt. Nachdem das erste richtige Heavy Magazin "Metal" vor einigen Jahren eingestellt wurde, war bis heute das "Madhouse" Magazin das grösste. Es stand genauso unter Beschuß, wie bei uns das "Rock Hard", weil es über all die tollen 'Weiterentwicklungen' im Metal berichtet hat. Anscheinend war aber auch der Gründer des Magazins damit nicht zufrieden und machte seit einigen Jahren ein neues Metal Mag "Epopeya"(Epos). Dieses hat ein total interessantes Konzept. In den Storys werden Anspielungen auf Altertumsgeschichte, Philosophie usw. verarbeitet und keine billige Fantasy. Das Rating ist der Hammer, die Pictogramme reichen von Kopfschuß über Fanfaren und Lorbeerkranz, bis zur 'Apoteosis', der Gott Erklärung. Qualitativ war es eines der besten Magazine weltweit!

An der Fanzinefront gab es zuerst Mitte der 80er das tolle "Riff Raff", das aber nach einem Dutzend Nummern aufgab (es war sogar ein toller Sampler mit so kultigen Bands wie VOLCANO; LIEDER; MESIAS; 666; CERBERO; KAISER; MAUSSER; BELCEBU geplant, ist dann aber nicht mehr herausgekommen). Später haben sich viele unter der Führung des "Metalica" auf die grossen Magazine eingeschossen. Dabei wurde nicht immer mit feinen Mitteln gekämpft. Dies scheint sich aber später geändert zu haben. Ansonsten wird viel für die Underground - und Provinzbands getan. In einigen der letzten Ausgaben lagen auch noch kostenlos die "Hermandad Metalica" Sampler CDs bei (dabei ist es selbst schon kostenlos, und damit wohl weltweit einmalig!!) Genial ist auch der Spruch vorne "No se incluyen nuevas tendencias comerciales" (Wir enthalten keine modernen, kommerziellen Tendenzen), und "Acceso denegado a estrellitas del Rock" (Eintritt für Rockstars abgelehnt)! Sie sind wirklich totaler Untergrund, und supporten die Lokale Szene wie keine andere Fanzine weltweit, und werden immer besser!

Es gibt im True Metal und Extrem Metal Bereich sehr viele Fanzines, und ausserhalb von Buenos Aires sind es besonders viele in Bahia Blanca. Selbst im fernsten Süden und anderen abgelegenen Gebieten sind Fanzines vorhanden. In letzten Jahren kamen das gute "Sacrilegio" und das kostenlose "Centurias" heraus, die eine grössere Verbreitung haben.
Der völlige ökonomische Kollaps Ende 2001 hatte auch unglaubliche Auswirkungen auf die Medien! Alle kommerziellen Magazine wurden eingestellt!! Es gab schlagartig kein "Epopeya" mehr, kein "Madhouse", kein "Grinder" oder sonst irgendein Verkaufsmagazin!! Dagegen erschien das "Metalica" direkt dannach unbeirrt kostenlos, und wieder mit 2 Bonus CDs!! Sie sind durch die Lage über Nacht zum führenden Metal Printmedium des Landes aufgestiegen! Solche Umwälzungen in kürzester Zeit sind in der Szene wohl noch nie dagewesen!
Die anderen Magazine sind nun endgültig verschwunden, aber langsam erscheinen wieder Kiosk Magazine. Das brasilianische "Rock Brigade" bringt nun einen Ableger heraus, und es gibt "Mealström", "Jeadbangers" und "Requiem" (dieses hat viele Leute des "Epopeya" Magazines dabei, und ist in der Aufmachung sehr ähnlich). Radio Programme gibt es lokal überall im Lande, von Feuerland im Süden, bis im tropischen Misiones ganz im Norden. Aber Sendungen die man landesweit empfangen kann gab es nur zeitweise. In den letzten Jahren gibt es "Ave Cesar", mit Cesar Fuentes vom "Epopoya" Mag. Er hatte auch die einzige TV Metal Sendung auf "Much Music / Power30", die von 1993 bis 1997 existierte. Ansonsten gab es im TV lange Zeit fast keine Metal Sendungen. Mitte der 80er gab es "BA Rock" mit sehr wenig Metal, und dann war lange Zeit "Power 30" die einzige Sendung. Erst in den letzten Jahren starteten viele kleine Sender, und zeigen überraschend viel Metal, sogar kleine Undergrondbands. Am aktivsten scheint wohl "OK" TV zu sein. Auch berichtet die TV Sendung "Efecto Metal" über die ganze Szene, und von richtigen Undergroundkonzerten! In wie weit die Krise nun Auswirkungen auf die kleinen Sender haben wird ist ungewiss!
Das Internet hat sich in den letzten Jahren sehr verbreitet, und man kann heute fast jede Band damit erreichen, was um so erfreulicher ist, da reguläre Post sehr viel verschwindet. METAL MEDIA

There was always a lot of Metal print media in Argentina. It is astonishing, that you have fanzines even in the most remote corners of the country, like in the southern dry Patagonia and the polar Tierra de Fuego, the western desert highlands and the northern jungles. The first real Heavy magazine, called "Metal" started already in the beginning of the 80s, and quit some years ago. After that for a long time the "Madhouse" mag was the biggest in the country, but it was very much criticized, because it celebrated all this new Metal "improvements" and trends. The founder of the magazine, and biggest media man Cesar Fuentes Rodriguez started some years ago with a new magazine called "Epopeya", which means "epic". This was a high quality Metal mag, that had an interesting concept. In the stories were many insinuations to medieval and antiquity history, and philosophy used, but no cheap fantasy. The rating was unique and genius too, it had pictograms, reaching from head shot, trumpets, laurel wreath towards the 'apotheosis', the declaration to a god. But with the economic collapse, the end for all magazines came, and the December number of 2001 was the last.

Fanzines they have in unbelievable masses, especially those about extreme music. The first one was the great "Riff Raff", which had to give up after a dozend numbers (there was even planned to release a copmpilation with cult bands like VOLCANO; LIEDER; MESIAS; 666; CERBERO; KAISER; MAUSSER; BELCEBU, which sadly did not happen anymore). Today at the True Metal front the "Metalica" fanzine is the leader, which is free distributed, and includes in the last time even free "Hermandad Metalica" CDs (this should be worldwide unique!). This and other True Metal fanzines do very much for the deep underground, and for the bands from the interior. The big mags dont care much about those. The maker of this fanzine and other fanzinemakers, especially from Bahia Blanca did fight very much and bitter against the established mags. Genius are also the slogans at the front: "No se incluyen nuevas tendencias comerciales" (We don`t contain modern, commercial tendences) and "Acceso denegado a estrellitas del Rock" (Access denied for Rockstars)! They are really total untergrund, and support the local scene like no fanzine worldwide, and the quality gets better and better!

There are fanzines made all over Argentina, but one strong point for them seems to be Bahia Blanca. In the last time there were 3 new professional looking fanzines made, that have a wider distribution, the "Sacrilegio", "Comando Santa Brigada" and the free "Centuria".
With the economic breakdown in 2001, the whole commercial magazines ceased to exist!! In a few weeks time there were no "Epopeya", no "Madhouse", no "Grinder" and no other mag that ask for money. Only the free fanzines still existed and the "Metalica" came out shortly afterwards, and again contained 2 free CDs! So over night this fanzine became the biggest print media in Argentina! Such drastical changes in a short time must be very unique in the whole history of our music!!

The radio media is very active, and you have small programs all over the country, but big nationwide programs are rare. There is since a long time the show "Rock and Pop", and in the last years came the program "Ave Cesar" with Cesar Fuentes. In the TV there was not much Metal in the 80s, only a little bit in the show "BA Rock". Only with the real Metal show "Power 30" at "Much music" this changed. It existed from 1993 till 1997. In the last years there opened a lot of small TV stations, which show surprisingly often Metal, and even broadcast complete live shows of own and international bands! One of the most active seems to be the "OK" TV. There is also the very active "Efecto Metal" TV, which shows mainly underground concerts! How big the impact of the economic crisis will be on this small stations, I don`t know.

INTERNET MEDIA In the last years the Internet got a wide distribution in Argentina. It is an easy way to communicate with the bands, as a lot of regular mail gets lost. Recently there are also some web sites who give an overview about today's scene and happenings. This are for example:

Siempre hubo un montón de medios impresos en Argentina.Es asombroso que tenés fanzines hasta en las mas remotas esquinas del pais, como en la sureña y seca Patagonia y la polar Tierra del Fuego, el oeste de las tierras altas y las nórdicas junglas. La 1era verdadera revista heavy, llamada "Metal" empezó en los principios de los 80 y desisitió hace bastante años atrás. Después de eso y por un largo tiempo la revista "Madhouse" fue la mas grande en el país, pero era muy criticada, porque alabava todos esto nuevos "progresos" del Metal y tendencias. El fundador esta revista Cesar Fuentes Rodríguez, empezó hace algunos años con una revista llamada "Eopeya". Esta era una revista de alta calidad con un interesante concepto. En las historias habia muchas insinuaciones hacia lo medieval e historia antigua y filosofía. La clase era unica e ingeniosa tambien, tenía pictogramas, trompetas, laureles coronando a "apoteosis", la declaración a un dios. Pero con el colapso económico, el fin de todas las revista vino, y el número de diciembre del 2001 fue el último.

Fanzines hay en increíble cantidad, especialmente esos sobre música extrema. El 1ero fue "Riff Raff", que tuvo que dejar de salir luego de una docena de números (se habia planeado hasta la salida de una compilación con bandas de culto como VOLCANO; LIEDER; MESIAS; 666; CERBERO; KAISER; MAUSSER; BELCEBU, que lamentablemente no ocurrió). Hoy al frente del Verdadero Metal el "Metalica Zine" es el líder, el cual es distribuido gratuitamente, e incluyo en los últimos tiempos hasta los CDs "Hermandad Metalica" gratuitamente (esto debe ser mundialmente único!). Genial son tambien las palabras en la tapa "No se incluyen nuevas tendencias comerciales" y "Acceso denegado a estrellitas del Rock"! Este y otros fanzines de Verdadero Metal hacen mucho por el profundo under y por las bandas del interior. Las grandes revistas no se interesan por estas. El hacedor de este fanzine y de otros fanzines, especialmente de Bahia Blanca, lucharon mucho y encarnizadamente contra las revistas establecidas.

Hay fanzines que se hacen por sobre toda la Argentina, pero un punto fuerte parece ser Bahia Blanca. En los últimos tiempos hubo 3 fanzines de profesional presencia, con vasta distribuición, el "Sacrilegio", "Comando Santa Brígida" y el gratuito "Centuria". Con el quiebre económico en 2001 todas las revistas comerciales no existen mas!! No mas "Epopeya", no "Madhouse", no "Grinder" y no a otras revistas que pidan plata. Sólo los fanzines gratuitos todavía existen y el "Metalica" sale de nuevo despues y otra vez contiene 2 CDs gratis! Este fanzine se convirtió en el mayor medio de prensa en Argentina! Tantos cambios drásticos en la historia en tan poco tiempo debe ser una situación demasiado única en todo el mundo de nuestra música.

Los medios radiales son bastante activos y hay pequeños programas por sobre todo el país, pero grandes programas por toda la nación son raros. Hay desde hace rato el ciclo "Rock & Pop" y en los últimos años vino el programa "Ave Cesar" con Cesar Fuentes. En la TV no hubo mucho Metal en los 80, solo un poquito en "BA Rock". Solo con el "Power 30" en "Much Music" la cosa cambió. Existió desde 1993 hasta 1997. Los últimos años se abrieron un montón de chicas estaciones de TV, quienes ofrecieron sorpresivamente, Metal bastante seguido y hasta transmisiones completas de recitales en vivo de propias e internacionales bandas! Una de las mas activas debe ser "OK" TV. También la muy activa "Efecto Metal" TV, que muestra principalmente recitales unders! Cuán grande será el impacto económico en estas pequeñas estaciones de TV, no lo se.

INTERNET MEDIA: en los últimos años la net tuvo amplia distribución en Argentina. Es una manera facil de comunicarse con bandas, ya que un montón de correo regular siempre se perdía. Recientemente hay algunos websites que dan entrevistas de la escena actual y lo que sucede.Estos son por ejemplo:
