Der Gitarrist vom zweiten V8 Line up, Giardino (vorher in der Band PUNTO ROJO), gründet die Band 1986 mit dem Drummer der ersten V8 Besetzung, Rowek. Sie werden trotz mehrerer Sängerwechsel mit ihrem eingängigen Spitzenmetal mit Ohrwurmcharakter zum größten Metal Seller im Land. Der 1. Sänger Blanch von der Hardrock Band PLUS (waren in Südamerika recht groß), verlässt die Band kurz nach der ersten LP und der zweite Sänger Barilari bleibt bis zur 4. Scheibe (er gründet danach mit dem Keyboarder ALIANZA die 2 CD's veröffentlichen und in total seichten Gewässern fischen). Sie waren bei den Heavy's total angesagt und spielen bald Riesen Schows. 1993 wagt man den Sprung nach Europa und spielt live in Spanien. Sie werden aber ihre Bandprobleme nie los, zur 5. LP gab`s z.B. wieder einen neuen Sänger, Mario Ian von HELLION/ALAKRAN. Nach ihrer "Tanzmusikaktion" mit riesen Verkäufen werden diese nach 1993 auch immer schwächer. Nach 1994 denkt jeder sie sind gesplittet, aber 1997 hat Giardino wieder seine alte Mannschaft am Start (natürlich mit neuem Sänger). Das Album ist im alten Stil, aber mit einigen wenigen modernen Einflüssen. 1997 sind sie aber nur noch eine unter vielen Bands, und nach vielen Auflösungsgerüchten ist 1998 erstmal wieder Schluss. Giardino macht unter seinem eigenen Namen und komplett neuer Mannschaft weiter. Das Projekt nennt sich TEMPLE: Der Stil war aber derselbe geblieben. Er schmeisst dann aber bald die komplette Mannschaft raus (diese Jungs gründen zusammen mit Gitarrist Adrian Sobutovski QUEMAR). Im Jahre 2000 singt Barilari wieder für ihn, und die Frage taucht natürlich auf, warum sie nicht gleich mit RATA weitermachen. Sie spielten auch schon einige neue Songs, und was aus denen jetzt wird ist ungewiss. Denn Ende 2000 bekam Giordano das Angebot in Mexiko unter dem Namen RATA BLANCA zu touren. Da hat er sich ausser Barilari wieder einige alte Leute geschnappt und hat dort gespielt und noch Gigs in ganz Lateinamerika rangehängt. Erst im Anschluss spielten sie einige umjubelte Shows in Argentinien. Der erste Auftritt im Dezember 2000 im riesigen "Coliseo" Theater geriet zum Triumphzug. Bei ihren Auftritten war interessant zu sehen welch unterschiedliches Publikum sie anziehen, von Büro Leuten mit Schlips über Hausfrauen, bis zu Punks und Skatern, und natürlich Heavys. 2001 wurde erstmal eine 4 Track Maxi CD auf den Markt gebracht (2 Stücke davon nur dort veröffentlicht, und kleine Auflage!), und im Sommer 2002 erschien das volle Album. Es enthält wieder alle Trademarks ihres erfolgreichen Sounds in den 80ern (also keine härteren Klänge wie Mitte der 90er)!
Alle neuen Release der Band haben trotz der wirtschaftlichen Lage grosse Verkaufszahlen! Sie haben jetzt wohl auch internationale Ambitionen, da zu dem neuen Album eine MCD mit englischen Texten erschienen ist (und ein volles Album folgen soll)! Das Tribute Album von 2001 ist sehr interessant, da alle relevanten Bands Argentiniens hier mitmischen, und teils interessante Versionen hinzaubern! Auch internationale Gastmusiker wurden eingeladen, die aber anscheinend Null Ahnung davon hatten für welche Legende sie da etwas aufnahmen! Die Band wohnt jetzt in Spanien, und will sich wohl in Europa etablieren! Das letzte Studio Album wurde in Italien lizensiert, und sogar eine 500er Auflage als LP herausgebracht! Im Jahre 2003 folgte ein Live Album, das ihre abgefeierten Live Shows wunderbar einfängt, und dessen limitierte Aufmachung eine der beeindruckendsten ist, dass ich je bei einer CD gesehen habe (super Buchform mit Prägedruck, und Fotos in effektvoller Drucktechnik, plus Plektron)! 2004 kam dann die erste DVD, die ein umjubeltes Konzert von 2003 super einfängt! Dazu gibt es noch eine Live CD (keine Doppel DVD, wie einige Händler schreiben, die zu faul sind mal richtig nachzusehen)! Das nächste Studio Album 2005 ist wieder in typischem RATA Stil, und sehr professionell gemacht. Die erste argentinische Auflage kam als fantastische Box heraus! Sie macht den Album Namen "Der Schlüssel des geheimen Tores" alles Ehre. Aussen ist ein richtiger Schlüssel aus Metal befestigt, und man muss die Box wie Türen, die im Wald ein Drachentor schliessen, öffnen (siehe Bild weiter unten)! Nette Idee für die Sammlerherzen! Das Albumn wurde auch in Spanien lizensiert (mit simplem Cover).
Die Alben der Band findet man noch einigermassen (lasst euch keine der LPs von "Spezialisten" für 100 Euro andrehen, ihr findet sie woanders für bedeutend weniger). Vor allem die im fantastischen 3 fach Klappcover erschienene "Guerrero Del Arco Iris" muß sich gut verkauft haben, und ist das Highlight in jeder Sammlung. Einige CD's sind da schwerer zu bekommen. Es erschien 2001 auch noch ein Bootleg "Canciones Buscandos"(der aber offiziell in einigen Läden verkauft wird) mit seltenen Instrumentalversion, Texten in Portugiesisch u.s.w. Der alte Drummer Rowek spielt heute mit seiner neuen Band NATIVO den totalen Trend.

The guitar player of the first V8 line up, Giardino (who played before V8 in PUNTO ROJO), and the drummer of the second V8 line up Rowek founded the band in 1986. They had many problems with the vocalists, but made it with their melodic high class Metal to the biggest selling act in this style in the country. The first singer Blanch (from the Hard Rock band PLUS) sung only on the first LP. The second singer Barilari stayed till the 4. Album (he later founded together with the keyboarder ALIANZA and made till today 3 very soft CDs). They were very popular with the Heavy fans, and played very big shows. 1993 they made it as first Argentine band to Europe and played in Portugal and Spain. With the 5. Album they had a new singer, Mario Ian from HELLION/ALAKRAN. After their "Dance music" excursion, and the loss of many Metal fans they got much weaker. After 1994 it got very quiet and everybody thought they are dissolved. But in 1997 they made a new good album with a few modern influences (of course with a new singer). But at that time they were only one band of many, and in 1998 they split again. Later was a release with some rare instrumental versions and Portuguese lyrics. This is a bootleg, but they sell it officially in some shops. Giardino made a solo project with completely different musicians under the name TEMPLE which is totally in the same style as RATA BLANCA. This members soon got kicked out completely (they founded together with guitar wizard Adrian Sobutovski the band QUEMAR). A new troop was gathered, and in 2000 his old singer Barilari joined the band, and people were asking why he not continues with RATA. Then end of the year 2000 Giardino got the offer to tour in different countries of South America with RATA BLANCA. So he grabbed singer Barilari, and keyboarder Bistolfi, and 2 others and especially in Mexico they were very welcomed, and played in many other Latin American countries. Only after that they played some big gigs in Argentina. The first gig in the giant "Coliseo" theatre was a triumphant welcome! It was interesting to see, what kind of different people came to the shows, there came Skaters, Punks, Heavys but also business men with ties and housewifes! In 2001 they sold a 4 track Maxi CD (with 2 songs only released here), and in summer 2002 the album came finally! It contains all trademarks of their successful, melodic sound of the 80s (not like the albums of the mid 90s)!
All the new releases sell very successful, despite of the economic problems in the country! They seem to have now finally international ambitions, as the label released a MCD with english lyrics (and a full album is suppose to follow)! The band moved also to Spain and the last album was licensed to an italian label (and even a 500 copies LP edition was manufactured)! The tribute CD from 2001 is very interesting, as many of the best Argentine bands participated, and delivered several intesting versions! There were also some international guest musicians invited, which had no clue for what legend they were recording! In 2003 followed a live CD, which capture the celebrated live feeling very good, and which is released as a limited edition in one of the most wonderful packs I have ever seen (like a small book, embossed, and with a special impressive photo print technique)! In 2004 came the first DVD, from a great concert in 2003, which captures the feeling very good! It includes also a live CD (it is no double DVD like some dealers write)! The next studio album 2005 is again typical RATA style, and very professional done. The first Argentina edition came in a fantastic pack. It made the album title "The key of the secret door" every honour. At the outside is a real Metal key, and you can open the pack like small doors, to open the dragon doors in the woods (see picture below)! Really cool ideas for the collectors heart! It was also licensed in Spain (with simple cover).
The records are slowly getting rarer, even they sold a lot. Especially the "Guerrero del arco iris" is the highlight in every collection, because it has this fantastic 3 piece gatefold cover. But do not go in the trap of some "special" gready dealers who ask for 100$ and more for the LPs! You can find them for much less!

El guitarrista de la primera alineacion de V8, Giardino (que antes de V8 tocara con PUNTO ROJO) y el baterista de la segunda alineacion de V8, Rowek, formaron esta banda en 1986. Tuvieron muchos problemas con los vocalistas, pero con su metal Melodico de primera clase, lograron ser el acto mas vendido de este estilo en el pais. El primer cantante Blanch (de la banda de Hard Rock PLUS) solo canto en el primer disco, el segundo cantante Barilari canto hasta el cuarto (y luego formo con el tecladista la banda ALIANZA la cual ha tenido ya tres CDs de un Rock muy suave). Eran muy populares entre los fanaticos del Heavy y tocaban conciertos muy grandes. En 1993, se convierten en la primera banda Argentina en llegar a Europa y tocan en España y Portugal. Con el quinto album tienen otro nuevo cantante en la voz de Mario Ian de HELLION/ALAKRAN. Luego de su excursion por la musica bailable y la perdida de fanaticos la banda se fue poniendo debil. Ya para el 94 estuvieron apagados y la gente creyo que se habian disuelto pero en 1997 grabaron otro buen album con influencias mas modernas y desde luego con otro cantante, pero ya en este momento eran una banda como cualquiera y en 1998 se vuelven a romper, luego vino una grabacion de algunas versiones instrumentales y letras en portugues (esta es una grabacion pirata pero se vendio en algunas tiendas como oficial). Giardino formo un proyecto con otros musicos bajo el nombre de TEMPLE, con el mismo estilo de RATA BLANCA, estos musicos fueron despedidos (fundaron con el mago de la guitarra Adrian Sobutovski la banda QUEMAR), se formo una nueva tropa.
En el 2000 el cantante Barilari entro a la banda y la gente se preguntaba por que mejor no continuaba con RATA, entonces a Giardino se le ofrecio una gira de diferentes paises de Sur America con RATA BLANCA, asi que con Barilari y Bistolfi, mas dos otros musicos, se fue de gira, especialmente en Mexico fueron muy acogidos y tocaron en otros mas paises de Latinoamerica. Solo despues de esto volvieron a tocar grandes eventos en Argentina, el primero de estos en el gigante Teatro Coliseo fue una bienvenida triunfal!!! Fue muy interesante ver cuanta cantidad de gente diferente fue a este espectaculo, Skaters, Punks, Heavys, pero tambien hombres de negocios con corbata y esposas! En el 2001 vendieron un Maxi de 4 canciones (con 2 canciones solo lanzadas aquí) y en el verano del 2002 finalmente salio el disco! Contiene todas marcas registradas de su suceso, melódico sonido de los 80 (no como los discos de mediados de los 90)! Todos los nuevos lanzamientos son un éxito a pesar de los problemas economicos del pais! Parece que ahora finalmente tienen ambiciones internacionales ya que el sello lanzo un MCD con letras en ingles (y un disco completo parese seguir)! La banda se mudo a España tambien y el ultimo disco fue licenciado por un sello italiano (y hasta una edición de 500 copias en LP fue hecha)! El CD tributo del 2001 es muy interesante ya que muchas de las mejors bandas argentinas participaron, y dieron un material interesante! Hubo tambien algunos invitados internacionales que no tenian idea para la leyenda que estaban grabando! En el 2003 le siguió un CD en vivo que captura el sentiemiento de la celebración en vivo muy bien y es lanzado en una de las mas maravillosas ediciones limitadas que yo haya visto (como un libro pequeño, con relieve y una técnica especial de impresión en foto)! En 2004 se fueron lanzar el primero DVD (con CD)!

Los discos se estan volviendo rarezas lentamente, hasta vendieron un monton. Especialmente el GUERRERO DEL ARCOIRIS es el destacado en cada colección porque tiene 3 portadas. Pero no caigas en la trampa de algunos "especiales" vendedores que piden 100 dolares o mas por LPs! Los podes conseguir por mucho menos!
