Exotischer kann die Gegend gar nicht sein, aus der diese Band kommt, nämlich aus Manaus, mitten im Amazonasgebiet! Einige scheinen auch deutsche Wurzeln zu haben, der Drummer heist zum Beispiel Helmut Quacken! Sie fingen 1994 an unter dem Namen NOSTRADAMMUS. 1997 kam der Sänger Huberto Sobrinho aus Recife dazu, und nahm mit ihnen ein Demo auf. Im selben Jahr wechselten sie den Namen zu GLORY OPERA, und schliesslich im Jahre 2002 nahmen sie ihr erstes Album auf. Dieses enthält melodischen und progressiven Power Metal der Spitzenklasse! Sie erinnern mich mehr als einmal an KAMELOT! Endlich mal wieder eine Band aus dem Genre, die nicht nach Germany oder Italien schielt! Sie scheinen aber noch nicht viel vom Amazonas weggekommen zu sein Live! Wenn die CD einschlägt ändert sich das vielleicht! Sie haben passend zu ihrer Heimat auch ein interessantes textliches Konzept! Sie erzählen die Fantasy Story von einem Indianer auf der Suche nach der Wassergöttin Lara! Das Cover dazu ist auch wundervoll!

This band comes from Manaus in the middle of the Amazon Area, and there can be almost no more exotic place for a Metal band! There seem to live even some people with german roots, the name of the drummer is for example Helmut Quacken! They startet under the name NOSTRADAMMUS in 1994. In 1997 the singer Huberto Sobrinho from Recife joined the band, and they recorded a demo. In the same year they changed the name to GLORY OPERA, and finally in 2002 they recorded the first album. This contains melodic and slight progressive Power Metal of high class!! They remind me sometime of KAMELOT! Finally one more band of this genre which does not look all the time to Germany and Italy! It seems that they did not play too much outside of Amazonia, but if the CD gets some international recognition this will change may be! They have also an interesing fantasy concept in their lyrics! Fitting to their home area they talk about an Indian who is in search for the water goddess Lara! The cover is also very beautiful!

Esta banda vem de Manaus no meio do Amazonas e que lugar mais exótico para uma banda de Metal! Parece haver até pessoas de raízes germânicas por lá, o nome do baterista , por exemplo, é Helmut Quacken! Eles começaram com o nome NOSTRADAMMUS em 1994. Em 1997, o vocalista Humberto Sobrinho do Recife se juntou à banda e gravaram uma demo. No mesmo ano mudaram o nome para GLORY OPERA e finalmente em 2002 gravaram o primeiro álbum. Este contém um Power Metal progressivo de alta categoria! Eles me lembram, às vezes, algo do KAMELOT. Finalmente mais uma banda do gênero que não se parece todo a hora com bandas alemãs e italianas, mas se conseguirem algum reconhecimento internacional isto mudará talvez. Eles também possuem um interessante conceito de fantasias em suas letras, eles falam sobre um índio que está a procura da deusa das águas Iara. A capa é muito bonita também!
