1989 No Te Detengas LP (Ich halte dich nicht auf / I won`t stop you)

ULTIMATUM waren eine der aktivsten und wichtigsten Bands in der Anfangszeit des Metal Mexicano, und hatten mit ihrer Sängerin Marcela Gonzales ein beliebtes Aushängeschild. Die Gitarristen Fernando Meave und Talo Charraga, und Basser Rafael Covarrubias gründeten 1984 die Band EQUUS und spielen 70er beeinflussten Hard Rock. Der Sänger Adan Lozano (ein Cousin von Talo) steigt 1985 aus und dies startet einen grosen Wechsel! Erstmal ändern sie den Namen in ULTIMATUM, und Talo und Rafael tauschen die Instrumente. Die Suche nach einem Sänger war schwierig uns sie probierten verschiedene aus. Aber dann finden sie Marcela, die in Cafes Balladen singt und greifen sie sich. Sie sind sehr engagiert bei der "Escuadron Metalica" und Fernando bringt auch die Musiker von LUZBEL zusammen. Sie spielen unglaublich viel live und auch auf all den ersten Metal Festivals 1986 - 88.
Sie sind die erste und wohl auch einzige Metal Band die öfter im TV gezeigt wird! Ihre LP von 1986 ist guter normaler Metal mit einigen Schwächen (und ist ziemlich schwer zu bekommen)! Das Gruppenbild auf dem Cover ist kultig, Marcela mit Nietenband im Pferdeschwanz. Das war aber bloss aufgesetzte Attitude denn 1988 verlässt sie die Band und singt wieder Pop Songs. Am Mikro sind dann kurz Salvador Aguilar von MEGATON und Brenda von ABBADON ehe sie mit Cathy Miguel eine feste Sängerin haben. Sie setzt sich aktiv in einer Kampagne zur Unterstützung von Musikerinnen ein. Ausserdem steigt Fernando aus und als neuer Gitarrist kommt Eduardo Jiminez von GEHENNA, und auch der Drummer geht und wird durch Israel Olin von ALUCARD ersetzt. Die Musik wird softer und man kann es nicht mehr Heavy Metal nennen, sondern eher belangloser Hard Rock, was man auf der 89er LP hören kann (die einfacher zu bekommen ist). Aber die Band hält nicht mehr lange! Nach einem Konzert mit CHEAP TRICK Ende 1989 lösen sie sich auf! Alle Mitglieder sind weiter als Musiker aktiv. Einige spielten für eine Präsentation der Pop Band BAZAR 1990 (mit zwei Sängerinnen). Eduardo Jiminez probierte eine Weile eine Band Namens BRANDA aufzustellen, was aber anscheinend nie richtig klappte. Talo Charraga spielte erst einige Jahre in der Hard Rock band LUC und hat in den letzten Jahren die Nu Metal band GATO MADRE (im Jahre 2000 CD "Hambre") welche eine CD veröffentlichte! Fernando heiratete später Adriana, die Gitarristin von ANESTESIA, und spielte in verschiedenen Blues Bands.

The guitar players Fernando Meave and Talo Charraga and the bass player Rafael Covarrubias founded in 1984 the band EQUUS, and played 70s influenced Hard Rock. The singer Adan quit the band and this started a lot of changes! First they took the new name ULTIMATUM and Talo and Rafael changed instruments! The search of a new singer was very difficult, and they tried some different guys. Later in 1986 they saw Marcela singing ballads in Cafes, and hired her. They were very active in the "Escuadron Metalico", and Fernando even brought the guys from LUZBEL together. They played very often live, and did not miss one of the many festivals from 1986 till `88. They were also the first Metal band who was shown several times in TV! Their LP from 1986 contained good normal Metal with a few weak parts. The band photo at the cover is cult, as it shows Marcela with a leather and spikes belt in her ponytail! But this was only show, because she left the band in 1988 and started again to sing Pop songs.
For a short time they had as singers Salvador Aguilar (from MEGATON and founder of CODA) and Brenda from ABADDON. Then Cathy Miguel joined, and she was very active in fighting for the rights of female musicians. At the same time Fernando left the band, and Eduardo Jiminez from GEHENNA became the new guitar player and the drummer left too, and was replaced by Israel Olin from ALUCARD. The music became much softer, and you can not call it Heavy Metal anymore, but more Hard Rock! You can hear this change at the second album. The band did not last much longer, and after a show with CHEAP TRICK the band split finally in the end of 1989!
All musicians continued with other projects! Some members played for a presentation of the band BAZAR, using two female singers. Eduardo Jiminez tried for a while to start a band called BRANDA, but seems they never kept going. Talo Charraga played first several years in the Hard Rock band LUC and has in the last years the Nu Metal band called GATO MADRE which released in 2000 the CD "Hambre"!
